Iceland Symphony Orchestra is live from Harpa Concert Hall with violinist Sayaka Shoji performing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto. The programme also features Bernstein's overture to the operetta Candide and Shostakovich's Symphony no. 10, which is one of the composer's best-loved pieces. Conducting the programme is Finnish conductor Klaus Mäkelä.

Vladimir Ashkenazy, Conductor Laureate of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, was awarded the Grand Cross of the Icelandic Order of the Falcon by the President of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, at Bessastaðir, the presidential residence, on April 19.
Ashkenazy has made an invaluable contribution to Icelandic musical life, as a pianist, conductor, and organizer.
