A Musical Feast with Barbara Hannigan
June 5th Barbara Hannigan and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra offer the audience a program where joy and humor take center stage. The program includes works by Aaron Copland, Joseph Haydn, Jacques Offenbach and two irresistible songs by Kurt Weill, performed by Hannigan.
Barbara Hannigan will become the orchestra's next principal conductor, starting in the fall of 2026.

Víkingur plays Beethoven – 75 Year Anniversary Concert
In March 2025 will be 75 years since the Iceland Symphony Orchestra held its first concert. To mark this milestone, a celebratory concert will take place 6. & 7. March under the baton of Eva Ollikainen, the orchestra's chief conductor. Víkingur Ólafsson will perform Beethoven's Fifth Piano Concerto, The Emperor Concerto, a grand masterpiece where powerful drama intertwines with lyrical beauty in a mesmerizing interplay between soloist and orchestra.

Do You Want to Play Along?
In connection with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra's 75th anniversary, the orchestra is organizing the community project “Do You Want to Play Along?” This project invites everyone who wishes to join the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in an open rehearsal and performance in Eldborg on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

Liam Kaplan appointed as Pianist of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra
Liam Kaplan has been appointed to the position of pianist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra following an audition and a six-month trial period. The orchestra warmly welcomes Liam to the team.
