The Board of Directors of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra has appointed Guðni Tómasson to the position of Managing Director of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, starting 6 November 2024. His appointment is for a term of four years.

Conductor Tomáš Hanus will assume the position of Principal Guest Conductor of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra next autumn, serving during the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons. He will conduct the orchestra at two concerts in Eldborg during each season.

The Board of the Reykjavík Arts Festival has appointed Lára Sóley Jóhannsdóttir as the artistic director of the Reykjavík Arts Festival from this coming autumn for four years.

The application deadline is July 18th 2024.

The auditions will take place on September 3rd, 2024, at Harpa Concert Hall, Reykjavík.

In October, American cellist Yo-Yo Ma will perform with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in Harpa Concert Hall and he will play a duo concert in Eldborg with British pianist Kathryn Stott.
