Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 film Psycho, about Marion Crane's fateful visit to the Bates Motel in California, is considered by many to be one of the best films of the past century. The film was nominated for four Oscars and is still immensely popular even though over 65 years have passed since its premiere. The eerie music of American composer Bernard Herrmann is crucial in its success.
He composed music for seven of Hitchcock's films, the music for Psycho being the most well known. It is written exclusively for the orchestra's string instruments, and their possibilities are explored in depth. The piercing strings in the famous shower scene will haunt the audience for days after the concert!
Don't miss Psycho in a live performance by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in Eldborg. The film is not suitable for viewers under the age of 16.
