This programme invites the audience to travel through time and space while sitting still in their seats.

Händel's famous processional march The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, from his oratorio Solomon, depicts the Old Testament story of the Queen of Sheba's arrival in Israel for a state visit. Often programmed by itself, it was performed at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012. Kaija Saariaho's Asteroid 4179: Toutatis is a musical description of an asteroid flying close to the Earth. It was commissioned by the Berlin Philharmonic and premiered under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. Gustav Mahler's masterpiece Lieder eines farhenden Gesellen (Songs of a Wayfarer) blends together the trauma of love and the magic of nature in true Late Romantic fashion. Baritone Jóhann Kristinsson, who has earned an outstanding reputation as both lyric and operatic singer, brought the house down last season with his performance in Brahms' German Requiem. The Orchestra ends by taking us out to the open ocean with Debussy's masterwork La mer, which is often characterised as a symphony about the sea, the wind, and the waves,

The concert is an hour long, with no intermission, and is broadcast live on RÚV.
