Sveinn Dúa Hjörleifsson

Sveinn Dúa Hjörleifsson studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He held ensemble positions at the Landestheater Linz and the Leipzig Opera, where his roles have included Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Narraboth in Salome, and Cassio in Otello. He has also appeared at the Konzerthaus and Musikverein in Vienna, Semperoper Dresden, Oper Frankfurt, the Wiener Festwochen, and the Berliner Festtagen, and took part in world premieres of Moritz Eggert's Terra Nova and David Lang's reinterpretation of Wagner's Parsifal. His drag production of Die schöne Müllerin attracted wide attention and was nominated for Best Performance and Singer of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards.

Sveinn Dúa Hjörleifsson sang the tenor solo in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra at the opening of Harpa Concert Hall in 2011 and has returned to the orchestra on several occasions since.
