Herdís Anna Jónasdóttir

Herdís Anna Jónasdóttir is an Icelandic soprano who studied at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. She was a member of the International Opera Studio at the Zurich Opera in 2012–13 and a soloist at the Saarland State Theatre in Saarbrücken from 2013 to 2018, and now works as a freelance artist based in Reykjavík. Her operatic roles include Violetta in La traviata and Musetta in La bohème at the Icelandic Opera, as well as Adina, Zerlina, and Nannetta at houses in Germany and Switzerland. She has performed in concert with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra, and the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, among others. She won Singer of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards in 2022 and received the Gríman Icelandic Performing Arts Award in 2019. In 2021 she released her debut album Nýir vængir, featuring Icelandic songs performed with pianist Bjarni Frímann Bjarnason.
