New violin concerto by Daníel Bjarnason

Daníel Bjarnason, Iceland Symphony's artist in residence, premiered his first violin concerto at the Hollywood Bowl last Tuesday night. The concerto was performed by violinist Pekka Kuusisto and conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. Commissioned by the Iceland Symphony and L.A. Phil as part of Reykjavík Festival at L.A. Phil last spring. Daníel also premiered his first opera, Brothers, at The Danish National Opera in Aarhus last week.

Next season the Iceland Symphony Orchestra will premiere Daníel's violin concerto in Iceland with Pekka Kuuisto and Daníel conducting.
