Liam Kaplan appointed as Pianist of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra

Liam Kaplan has been appointed to the position of pianist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra following an audition and a six-month trial period. The orchestra warmly welcomes Liam to the team.

Liam was born in the United States in 1997. He completed his bachelor's degree at Oberlin Conservatory, where he studied piano with Alvin Chow and composition with Stephen Hartke. During his studies, Kaplan received various awards and recognition including winning the Aspen ACA Piano Competition in 2019 and completing the Honors Program in Piano Performance at Oberlin Conservatory in 2020.

Liam Kaplan has performed as a soloist with the Oberlin Sinfonietta, Oberlin Orchestra, and the Aspen Conducting Academy Orchestra. He was a member of the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble from 2022 to 2023. Liam has also appeared in several concert series in Iceland, including Tíbrá at Salurinn in Kópavogur, with the Chamber Music Club (Kammermúsíkklúbburinn), and 15:15. Additionally, he has released two solo albums.
