Mozart’s The Magic Flute is one of the beloved operas of all time, an adventure for audiences of all ages. The prince Tamino embarks on a journey in order to rescue the lovely Pamina, but it gradually comes to light that her mother, the Queen of the Night, who sent him on the journey, is not all that she seems to be. Assisting Tamino is the birdcatcher Papageno, who has little time for lofty thoughts but can certainly appreciate good food and drink and, above all, yearns to find a soulmate. In the end, Tamino and Pamina fall in love, but they must solve some Herculean tasks before they can fulfil their destiny and be together.
In this concert, Mozart’s masterpiece is performed in an hour-long version for narrator and five solo vocal parts, sung by young Icelandic singers. All of the soloists have pursued advanced studies abroad and have received rave reviews for their work. Narrator Þórunn Arna Kristjánsdóttir leads the audience through the story, with humour in the forefront. A heartwarming and unforgettable adventure for the whole family!
An engaging operatic adventure from Mozart, in a child-friendly arrangement.
