At this Iceland Symphony's television concert Stuart Skelton performs Wagner's hauntingly beautiful love songs, written to poems by his lover, Mathilde Wesendonck. Stuart is among the world's leading tenors and has appeared in opera houses throughout the globe, including the Metropolitan Opera and La Scala in Milan.

Haydn's virtuosic Cello Concerto is a masterful creation and will be performed here by Sigurgeir Agnarsson, the Iceland Symphony's principal cellist. George Walker was the first African-American composer to earn the prestigious Pulitzer Prizein music. His Lyric for Strings was composed in 1946, when Walker was only 24 years old, but it has remained one of his most enduring compositions. It is dedicated to his grandmother, who had been a slave in her youth.

Conductor is Eva Ollikainen, Iceland Symphony's Chief Condcutor and Artistic Director.
