“This is one of the finest violin debuts of the last decade,” said the critic from BBC Music Magazine about the first recording issued by Swedish virtuoso Johan Dalene, who was only 20 years old when he took the musical world by storm. Dalene won first prize in the 2019 Carl Nielsen Violin Competition and then landed a recording contract with BIS. He plays a Stradivarius violin. His most recent CD was selected by Gramophone magazine as one of its Recordings of the Month. Don't miss this unique opportunity to see one of today's brightest young violin stars perform Barber's lyrical concerto.

Michael Sanderling is Chief Conductor of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, after a successful tenure with the Dresden Philharmonic. His release of Shostakovich's symphonies with Sony Classical mopped up awards and received outstanding reviews the world over. It is safe to say that Sanderling is a natural as both a conductor and an interpreter of Shostakovich. His father, conductor Kurt Sanderling, was a close friend of Shostakovich and conducted the German premieres of a number of his works. We can surely expect fireworks when we hear Sanderling and the Iceland Symphony perform Shostakovich's tense and dramatic Symphony no. 10.

Korean composer Unsuk Chin has long been in the front ranks of contemporary composers. She won the coveted Léonie Sonning Prize in 2021, following in the footsteps of composers such as Igor Stravinsky and Arvo Pärt. In 2019, the critic at The Guardian named her Cello Concerto among the best works written in the 21st century to date. Now the Iceland Symphony performs a work by this magnificent artist for the first time. Frontispiece for orchestra met with universal acclaim upon its 2019 premiere at the Elbphilharmonie Hall in Hamburg.

One of the Nordic region's leading violinists and a passion-packed symphony by Shostakovich.
