Sæunn Þorsteinsdóttir
Like so many others, Sæunn Þorsteinsdóttir was temporarily quarantined by the COVID-19 pandemic. But early in summer 2020 she packed up her cello, left the US, and came to Iceland to perform all six Bach cello suites — one each in six different churches in the West Fjords. On the summer solstice, these houses of worship filled up with concert-starved listeners, many of whom followed Sæunn on her journey from church to church and fjord to fjord until she played the last suite by the seaside as the sun touched the horizon. She later recorded the suites and has now issued them on compact disc under the US label Sono Luminus.
