Over the past decade, Our Classics has enjoyed unprecedented popularity in Iceland's music scene. This will be the tenth time that the concert is held, and it will be broadcast live on RÚV. This time we consider the song of life and why we sing. It can be said that singing is one of humanity's oldest ways of expression and communication. We sing our way through life; in preschool and at funerals, in the car and in the shower, when we sleep and when we love, when we encourage or want to experience solidarity. Sometimes we sing alone, sometimes in a group, sometimes beautifully, and of course we can sing at the top of our lungs if we feel like it.
Here, many of our leading singers perform music that relates to our various activities and events in life; from melancholic evening songs to cheerful comedy songs. Bjarni Frímann Bjarnason will hold the baton and lead the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in this diverse and entertaining concert.
