Our Classics has long since become a fixture in Iceland's musical calendar. The National Broadcasting Service televises a live programme performed by the ISO and curated by the listeners. In this year's concert, movie music takes centre stage – from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven to John Williams and Jóhann Jóhannsson and Hildur Guðnadóttir, along with unforgettable songs from Icelandic film classics.
There is something for everyone here. Suspense, drama, humour, or deep emotion – you can find it all in the irresistible melodies that have come alive on the silver screen. This is the eighth collaboration between the National Broadcasting Service and the Iceland Symphony on this ever-popular project. The programme is as varied as ever and will be led by conductor Sarah Hicks.
*Unfortunately Daníel Bjarnason has had to withdraw from the engagement for Our Classics due to unforeseen circumstances. Instead Sarah Hicks will conduct the concert.
