Iceland Symphony Youth Orchestra
Established in 2009, the Iceland Symphony Youth Orchestra has become one of the cornerstones of orchestral performance for young musicians in Iceland. Each year, nearly 100 young people gather to rehearse and perform an orchestral masterpiece.
On this programme, they play one of the most revered Late Romantic pieces in the genre – Rachmaninoff’s Symphony no. 2 – which has been a fixture on orchestras’ repertoire worldwide ever since its premiere in 1908. On the podium is Kornilios Michailidis, who conducts the ISYO for the first time.
