The Iceland Symphony Orchestra presents a new opportunity for young and talented musicians to develop their skills on the podium in front of a symphony orchestra, under the direction of Eva Ollikainen, the ISO’s Chief Conductor, and Bjarni Frímann Bjarnason, the orchestra’s Conductor-in-Residence.

The first session of the Conducting Academy will take place on Saturday, 26 September in Eldborg Hall, Harpa, where students will work on Beethoven’s Symphony no. 4 under Eva Ollikainen’s guidance. After this session, several students will be selected for further participation and instruction by Ollikainen and Bjarnason.

Guests are welcome to attend this event and watch young and talented musicians take their first steps as conductors. Tickets can be obtained here on the ISO website and at the Harpa ticket office, but guests are asked to pay close attention to social distancing rules, hygiene and infection control.

Attendance is free of charge and all are welcome. Please note that all guests must obtain a ticket and sit in the seat indicated on the ticket.
