The Iceland Symphony's annual Advent Concert will be broadcast live on Icelandic television (RÚV) as well as streamed on the orchestra's website (sinfonia.is).
The Advent Concert will focus on festive music by Vivaldi, Händel and Mozart. Icelandic soprano Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir makes her debut with the orchestra at this concert. Álfheiður has fascinated audiences by her stunning voice and expressive musicianship. Currently a master's student at the Hanns Eisler Conservatory in Berlin, she has taken part in numerous masterclasses by world-renowned singers, such as Anne Sofie von Otter and Emma Kirkby, as well as Renée Fleming at a Carnegie Hall workshop in 2019.
A husband-and-wife team of Páll Palomares and Vera Panitch, both members of the Iceland Symphony violin section, perform Vivaldi's exuberant Concerto for two violins.
Conducting the orchestra is Daníel Bjarnason, who recently was nominated for a Grammy alongside the Iceland Symphony for Best Orchestral Performance.
In light of the newest assembly regulation, the orchestra is not able to invite audience members to this concert. Enjoy the music live on RÚV or here on the orchestra's website.
