Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone™️, released in 2001, was the year's top-selling film at the box office. The film brought worldwide fame to the young actors, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, and transformed this fantasy world into a living entity on the screen. The film was nominated for three ACADEMY AWARDS® and was followed by seven sequels released over a period of nine years.
Music plays a major role in the Harry Potter™️ films, earning legendary composer John Williams a host of prizes. In the music, Williams uses leitmotifs to represent the main characters and locations, including the archenemy Voldemort™️, Hogwarts™️ School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the friendship theme, and the main theme, which is associated with the owl Hedwig™️.
Both the film and its inspiring score take on a new dimension in this live performance by the Iceland Symphony, which accompanies the screening.
