The Iceland Symphony Orchestra invites you to an operatic feast of well-known arias, duets, and trios and operatic overtures. Among the works on the programme are the duet from Bizet's The Pearl Fishers, arias from Tannhäuser and Madama Butterfly, the barcarolle from Tales of Hoffmann, and the famous quartet from Rigoletto.
The soloists are all among Iceland's finest singers. Ingibjörg Guðjónsdóttir has captivated audiences with her sensitive performances for years. Elmar Gilbertsson and Oddur Jónsson, two of our most talented young male singers, have been working abroad in the recent past. Lilja Guðmundsdóttir has been well received in Iceland and in Vienna, and Agnes Tanja Þorsteinsdóttir, a student in Vienna, has drawn considerable attention for her talent in recent years.
Leo Hussain is Principal Conductor of the Opéra de Rouen Haute-Normandie and has conducted in many of the world's most famous opera houses, including Covent Garden, Glyndebourne, and the Staatsoper in Berlin. He conducted a marvellous Mozart concert with the ISO two years ago and was immediately asked to return to Eldborg hall.
