The Iceland Symphony Orchestra’s family and school concert in Ísafjörður features a wide range of music from plays, dramatisations, and films based on the adventure stories of Astrid Lindgren. The ISO plays music from Pippi Longstocking, Emil of Lönneberga, The Brothers Lionheart, and Seacrow Island in captivating arrangements by Jóhann G. Jóhannsson. Playful music and gripping tunes provide the perfect backdrop for the quirks and capers of the characters in the stories, and lyrical and enchanting enchanting melodies convey friendship and affection better than words ever could.
Singer-narrators Pétur Ernir and Þórunn Arna bring the characters to life, assisted by the ISO and local children’s choirs. Lively and cheerful, this concert programme makes sport of adults’ views on childrearing and celebrates children’s perspective on life.
The event is free and open to the public.
