The programme for the Iceland Symphony Orchestra's concert in Stykkishólmur consists of three pieces by leading composers of the classical era along with three heartwarming Icelandic songs performed by the orchestra together with local choirs from Snæfellsnes.
The concert opens with Mozart's energetic overture to The Marriage of Figaro, after which the choir will take to the stage and sing with the orchestra. Next is the warm and cheerful Cello Concerto in C Major by Joseph Haydn, featuring Steiney Sigurðardóttir as the soloist. Following the intermission is Beethoven's 7th symphony, a piece full of joy, beauty and spirit. Leading the orchestra is the ISO's chief conductor Eva Ollikainen.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
The run time of the concert is approximately 2 hours with intermission.
