Stuart Skelton is an Australian heldentenor widely regarded as one of the finest of his generation, Grammy-nominated and winner of the International Opera Awards Male Singer of the Year in 2014. He has appeared at the world's leading opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera Covent Garden, La Scala, the Vienna State Opera, and the Bavarian State Opera, with roles including Tristan, Siegmund, Peter Grimes, Otello, and Parsifal. On the concert platform he has performed with the Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, and Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, under conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Gustavo Dudamel.
Stuart Skelton is well known to Icelandic audiences. He first performed with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in 2015, taking the title role in a concert staging of Britten's Peter Grimes at the Reykjavík Arts Festival, in collaboration with the Icelandic Opera. Six years later, in the midst of the pandemic, he returned to sing Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder with Eva Ollikainen, and most recently appeared in autumn 2025 performing arias from Tristan und Isolde alongside soprano Nina Stemme and conductor Pietari Inkinen.
