Stefan Dohr

Horn

Stefan Dohr is Principal Horn of the Berlin Philharmonic and one of the world's most celebrated horn players, equally sought after as a soloist and chamber musician. He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Oslo Philharmonic, Sydney Symphony, and Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, and has collaborated with conductors including Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Sir Simon Rattle, and Bernard Haitink. His artistic stature has inspired numerous composers to write works for him, including Toshio Hosokawa, Wolfgang Rihm, Hans Abrahamsen, and most recently Jörg Widmann, whose Horn Concerto was premiered by the Berlin Philharmonic in 2024. Highlights of the 2025/26 season include the world premiere of Esa-Pekka Salonen's new Horn Concerto with the Orchestre de Paris at the Lucerne Festival.

Stefan Dohr made his debut with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in 2022, performing Strauss's Horn Concerto No. 2 under conductor Juanjo Mena.
