Rafael Adobas Bayog
Flute
Rafael Adobas Bayog was born in Ibiza to Filipino parents and studied flute at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona and the Musikhochschule in Munich. He completed his education as an academist at the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and has since been invited to collaborate with the flute sections of the Berlin Philharmonic, NDR Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich. In 2022 he won First Prize at the Kobe International Flute Competition and in 2019 he also won third prize at the Carl Nielsen International Competition in Denmark. In 2023 he received the Ani ng Dangal award from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines. In 2025 he assumed the position of Principal Flute at the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
