Baritone Ólafur Kjartan Sigurðarson has enjoyed a distinguished career over the past quarter century, appearing regularly at many of the world's most prestigious opera houses to great acclaim. He is particularly sought after as a Wagner interpreter, having performed the role of Alberich in the Ring Cycle at the Bayreuth Festival and at La Scala in Milan, and sung Biterolf in Tannhäuser at Covent Garden in London.

Ólafur Kjartan was Artist-in-Residence with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in the 2025/26 season, appearing with the orchestra on three occasions. Most recently he sang with the orchestra in Mahler's Eighth Symphony with conductor Eva Ollikainen at the Reykjavík Arts Festival in spring 2026.
