Jóhann Kristinsson

Jóhann Kristinsson is an Icelandic tenor and recipient of numerous awards, including Classical Singer of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards in 2024 and First Prize at the Stella Maris International Vocal Competition. After a successful international career as a baritone, he has transitioned to the tenor repertoire, combining the depth and warmth of his baritone background with a new expressive range. He completed his Master's degree with distinction at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin under Professor Scot Weir, and was subsequently a member of the International Opera Studio of the Hamburg State Opera. On the concert platform he has collaborated with conductors including Herbert Blomstedt, Kent Nagano, and Cristian Măcelaru, and in 2025 released a recording of Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem with the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra under Kent Nagano at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg on BIS Records.
Jóhann Kristinsson has performed with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra on numerous occasions, including Mahler's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem, and the role of Papageno in Die Zauberflöte.
