Isabelle Faust is a German violinist widely regarded as one of the most compelling of her generation, combining the highest authenticity with a contemporary perspective across repertoire spanning all eras. After winning the Leopold Mozart Competition and the Paganini Competition at a young age, she went on to perform regularly with orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, and NHK Symphony Tokyo, working with conductors including Andris Nelsons, Sir Simon Rattle, Klaus Mäkelä, and Giovanni Antonini. A committed champion of contemporary music, her recent world premieres include works by Péter Eötvös, Brett Dean, and Ondřej Adámek. Her numerous recordings have received the Gramophone Award, Diapason d'or, and other international prizes. In the 2025/26 season she was Artist in Residence with the WDR Symphony Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic, and Muziekgebouw Amsterdam.

 

Isabelle Faust was Artist in Residence with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in the 2010/11 season, performing Stravinsky's Violin Concerto with Pietari Inkinen and Beethoven's Violin Concerto with Bertrand de Billy. She returned in 2019 to perform Brahms's Violin Concerto with Osmo Vänskä.
