Ingo Metzmacher is a German conductor known for his commitment to 20th- and 21st-century music. He has served as General Music Director of the Hamburg State Opera, Chief Conductor of the Dutch National Opera and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, and Artistic Director of the KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen from 2016 to 2025. A regular guest with the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonics, Gewandhausorchester, and Cleveland Orchestra, he has led major premieres at the Salzburg Festival, La Scala, and the Opéra national de Paris.
