Hjörtur Páll Eggertsson
Conductor
Hjörtur Páll Eggertsson is an Icelandic cellist and conductor. He completed a Master's degree at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen under Morten Zeuthen and Toke Møldrup, and subsequently studied conducting at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. A member of the chamber ensemble Elja, he has performed at chamber music festivals across Europe. He was selected for the Malko Conducting Academy of the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2020–2022 and more recently for Dirigentløftet, a talent programme for young conductors.
Hjörtur first performed with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in 2019 as a winner of the Young Soloists competition. Has participated in the orchestra's conducting academy since 2023 and has conducted the orchestra on numerous occasions.
