Geirþrúður Anna Guðmundsdóttir is an Icelandic-American cellist praised for her technical mastery and bold stage presence. She has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, the Southbank Centre, and Lincoln Center, and is a prize winner at numerous competitions including the Anton Rubinstein International Cello Competition and the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, where she won the Grand Prize with the Terra String Quartet. She was selected as a 2024 City Music Foundation Artist. Known for her thoughtful programming, she often combines rarely heard pieces and newly written music with established repertoire, drawing on her connection to Iceland as a source of inspiration.

Geirþrúður Anna Guðmundsdóttir won the Young Soloists competition in 2013 and performed Schumann's Cello Concerto with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
