Elmar Gilbertsson

Tenor

Elmar Gilbertsson is an Icelandic tenor and member of the Stuttgart State Opera ensemble since the 2018/19 season, where his roles have included Mime in Das Rheingold, Narraboth in Salome, and Grigory in Boris Godunov. He has also appeared at the Ruhrtriennale, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, and National Opera Amsterdam, among others. A graduate of the Reykjavík Music School, he holds a Master's degree from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague as a member of the Dutch National Opera Academy.

Elmar Gilbertsson has performed with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra on numerous occasions, first appearing in the Vienna Concert in 2016 with conductor Ola Rudner, and most recently in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in 2021 under Eva Ollikainen.
