Sópran

Icelandic Grammy Award-winning soprano Dísella Lárusdóttir has gained international attention for her vocal beauty, stage presence and stylistic versatility. Praised by The New York Times and Opera News, she first drew wide notice through the Metropolitan Opera's 2007 National Council Auditions and the documentary The Audition, which led to a long relationship with the Met.

At the Metropolitan Opera she has performed roles in works including L'elisir d'amore, Parsifal, The Magic Flute, Jenůfa, Rusalka, Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung. She also covered the title role in Alban Berg's Lulu and made her European debut in the same production in Rome. In 2019 she created the title role in Silvia Colasanti's Proserpine at the Spoleto Festival.

Dísella has appeared many times with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra: first at the Vienna Concerts in 2009, and subsequently on numerous occasions in Our Classics, Christmas concerts and subscription concerts, most recently in May 2026, when she sang the role of Mater gloriosa in Mahler's Symphony No. 8.

In the coming season, Dísella will appear in a concert dedicated to the music of Ennio Morricone.
