Bar Avni
Conductor
Bar Avni burst onto the international scene in 2024 by winning the La Maestra competition in Paris, leading to a collaboration with the Paris Mozart Orchestra. Trained as a percussionist, she studied conducting with Yoav Talmi, Martin Sieghart, and Ulrich Windfuhr, and has assisted Gustavo Dudamel and Klaus Mäkelä. She has recently conducted the WDR Symphony, the Warsaw Philharmonic, and several other major orchestras, and recently released her debut album on Alpha Classics with the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine.
Last season she conducted the world premiere of Laura Bowler's The White Book with the London Symphony Orchestra — a co-commission by the LSO, the Gothenburg Symphony, and the Copenhagen Philharmonic, performed by Barbara Hannigan, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
