Avi Avital is the first mandolin soloist to be nominated for a classical Grammy and has been widely praised for his virtuosity and charismatic stage presence. A leading advocate for his instrument, he has helped transform the role of the mandolin in classical music over the past two decades, performing in major concert halls worldwide and expanding the repertoire through transcriptions and more than 100 commissions, including concertos by Fazil Say, Jennifer Higdon, Anna Clyne, Avner Dorman, and Giovanni Sollima.
