Anton Haupt
Baritone
Anton Haupt is a German baritone born in Leipzig, specialising in Baroque and Classical repertoire. He studied at the HMT Leipzig under Professor Berthold Schmid and has since completed a Master's degree in opera singing with distinction, with additional coaching from Michael Volle. He won Second Prize at the International Bach Competition Leipzig in 2024 and First Prize at the International Bach Competition in Greifswald in 2022. A regular presence in the Leipzig music scene, he performs frequently with the Gewandhausorchester, the Thomanerchor, and the Bachakademie Stuttgart under Hans-Christoph Rademann, and has appeared at major Bach festivals across Germany, including the Bachfest Leipzig and the Bachwoche Stuttgart.
Anton Haupt makes his debut with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in the 2026/27 season, singing the role of Jesus in the St. Matthew Passion under the baton of conductor and singer Benedikt Kristjánsson.
