Andris Poga
Conductor
Andris Poga is Chief Conductor of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and Artistic Advisor to the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, where he served as Chief Conductor from 2013 to 2021. He won the Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition in 2010, launching his international career as an assistant to Paavo Järvi at the Orchestre de Paris and with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He is now a regular guest with leading orchestras, including the NDR Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, WDR Sinfonieorchester Cologne, and NHK Symphony Tokyo.
Andris Poga made his debut with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in October 2024, conducting Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with pianist Jan Lisiecki and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 8 — a concert so well received that he was immediately invited to return.
