Andri Björn Róbertsson

Bass-baritone

Andri Björn Róbertsson is an Icelandic bass-baritone based in the UK, in demand on both the operatic stage and concert platform. He studied at the Reykjavík Academy of Singing and Vocal Arts, the Royal Academy of Music, and the National Opera Studio in London, and is a former Harewood Artist at English National Opera and a member of the International Opera Studio at Opernhaus Zürich. He took part in the world premiere of George Benjamin's Lessons in Love and Violence at the Royal Ballet & Opera in 2018, subsequently performing the same production at the Dutch National Opera, Staatsoper Hamburg, and Opéra de Lyon. Other highlights include appearances with Opera North, Glyndebourne, and English National Opera, and a concert staging of Tosca alongside Bryn Terfel and Kristine Opolais. He was nominated Singer of the Year at the Icelandic Music Awards in both 2022 and 2023, and is Professor of Singing at the University of Newcastle and Northumbria University.

Andri Björn Róbertsson first performed with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in 2011, singing arias by Händel, Bellini, and Mozart at the Young Soloists concert under conductor Bernharður Wilkinson.
