Position of Tutti Horn

Iceland Symphony Orchestra advertises vacant Tutti Horn Position. 

Auditions will take place on November 5th, 2024 at Harpa, Reykjavik, Iceland

 Application deadline is September 27th, 2024.

 

Solo works:

  1. Hermann Neuling – Bagatelle.
  2. Choice of a. or b.:
    a) 1st mov. from Mozart K.417.
    b) 1st mov. from Mozart K.495, without cadenza.

Audition repertoire:
Orchestral excerpts, with indicated passages to be played, will be sent by e-mail to applicants as soon as their application is approved, as well as further information regarding the audition location and timing.

Application deadline is September 27th, 2024. No formal application form is necessary; applicants are only required to submit their application, along with copies of diplomas and curriculum vitae, as attachments via email to the Human Resource Director at starf@sinfonia.is.

About the position
The vacant position is full-time tutti horn at Iceland Symphony Orchestra 2024. The ISO horn section consists of five members. University level education in instrumental performance is required. Salary and benefits are subject to wage agreements between the association of ISO players and the Ministry of Finance. Individuals from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) need to apply for a work permit, which is subject to approval by the Association of Icelandic Musicians (FÍH) and the Directorate of Immigration.

About the Orchestra
Founded in 1950, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra is the national orchestra of Iceland. The Iceland Symphony Orchestra employs 87 full-time musicians. The orchestra has for years been at the forefront of orchestras in the Nordic countries and has received high praise in reviews for its recordings as well as concerts at home and abroad. The orchestra holds about 100 concerts every year, including subscription concerts with world-renowned conductors and soloists. We are also proud of our ambitious educational work. Each year thousands of students from elementary to secondary level attend concerts. The orchestra also organizes a variety of educational projects for music students who wish to pursue a career as professional musicians.

Eva Ollikainen has been the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director since 2020. The Iceland Symphony is the resident orchestra in Reykjavik´s award-winning Harpa Concert Hall.
