Do You Want to Play Along?

Open session with ISO

In connection with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra's 75th anniversary, the orchestra is organizing the community project “Do You Want to Play Along?” This project invites everyone who wishes to join the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in an open rehearsal and performance in Eldborg on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Through this project, the orchestra opens its doors wide, giving the public an opportunity to participate in music-making alongside some of Iceland's finest musicians.

We expect that some parts will be overmanned, particularly among wind players, but the primary goal is to enjoy making music together.

The program includes:

  • The final movement of Symphony No. 9, From the New World, by Antonín Dvořák
  • The orchestra's most popular encore in recent years, Á Sprengisandi, arranged by Páll Pampichler Pálsson

There will be one rehearsal preceding the performance, held from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM on the same day.

All individuals who own orchestral instruments* and are willing to prepare for this event are welcome to apply using the designated application form available by clicking HERE .

It is expected that all participants will take part in both the rehearsal and the performance.

The application deadline is until February 18th, or until the stage is fully booked. Despite the generous size of the Eldborg stage, it can only accommodate a limited number of performers.

Conductor will be Ross Jamie Collins.

*SÍ will provide percussion instruments.
