The painter Muggur (Guðmundur Thorsteinsson) wrote the Story of Dimmalimm for his young niece when he was sailing about the Mediterranean. The story is one of the jewels of his creation. It is accompanied by his own exquisite illustrations, which form a part of the performance. Atli Heimir Sveinsson's musical setting of the story was immediately acknowledged as a gem of the Icelandic canon.

Here it is performed by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the choir girls of Langholtskirkja's Graduale Choir, and dancers from the Iceland Ballet Academy. Following Dimmalimm, the ISO presents select movements from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. This fairy tale concert concludes with a sing-along chorus of Kvæðið um fuglana (Poem of the Birds).

Barbara the Clown, performed by Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir, will act as narrator and master of ceremonies. Prior to the start of the concert, the Langspil Ensemble from Flóaskóli School will be performing in Hörpuhorn on the traditional Icelandic instrument langspil using swan feathers.
