The Star Wars films are among the most famous cinematic works of all time. The first one, dating from 1977, soared to the top of the charts immediately and has remained a constant favourite ever since. The series now runs to eight films, and the story they tell is more adventurous than anyone could have envisioned at the outset.

The music for all of the Star Wars films was written by John Williams. The popularity of the films is in no small part due to Williams' colourful, dramatic music, which has brought the composer a vast number of awards. He employs about 50 different melodies in leitmotif style, bringing them back repeatedly and associating them with specific characters or situations, just a Richard Wagner did in his operas over a hundred years earlier.

In the original 1977 film, the London Symphony performed the soundtrack, but this time the film will be screened to a live performance by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. A concert that no film lover should miss!

Estimated duration is two and a half hours with intermission. Children younger than twelve need to be accompanied by an adult.
