Composer
Anna Thorvaldsdottir
The Iceland Symphony Orchestra is holding a Conversing with the Composer event featuring composer-in-residence Anna Thorvaldsdottir. Thorvaldsdottir will talk about her new work, Metacosmos, which will receive its Icelandic premiere by the Iceland Symphony during the Dark Music Days festival. Commissioned by the New York Philharmonic and performed last April under the baton of Esa-Pekka Salonen.
Metacosmos is already on the roster of many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, the Helsinki Philharmonic, and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. This is an extraordinary opportunity to get to know the composer and gain insight into Metacosmos and how it came into being.
The Iceland Symphony's Artistic Adviser Árni Heimir Ingólfsson chats with composer-in-residence Anna Thorvaldsdottir. The event is free and open to the public.
The event will take place in Icelandic.
