Víkingur Heiðar Ólafsson
Víkingur has been referred to in the Icelandic press as “Iceland’s favourite son,” while foreign media have called him “Iceland’s Glenn Gould” and “an arresting artist who in concert creates unique aural landscapes.” His new solo CD from Deutsche Grammophon is eagerly anticipated worldwide, as his previous releases have mopped up awards from the likes of BBC Music Magazine, Opus Klassik, and Gramophone.
Víkingur is the Iceland Symphony Orchestra’s Artist-in-Residence for the 2021-2022 season.
