Sir Stephen Hough appointed artist in association with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra
British pianist Sir Stephen Hough has been appointed artist in association with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in the coming season, performing twice with the orchestra in Harpa and giving a recital in the orchestra’s Friday Seriesbefore joining the Iceland Symphony Orchestra on tour of the UK in the spring of 2023. Also in the position of artist in association is composer and conductor Daníel Bjarnason.

Positions for principal flute, co-principal 2nd violin and tutti cello are available for application at the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Auditions will take place in June in Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik.

Auditions for the position of principal flute at the Iceland Symphony Orchestra will be held on June 8th 2022 in Harpa Concert Hall, Reykjavik. Application deadline is April 13th.
FEAST – Icelandic Premiere next Wednesday
Next Wednesday night, Víkingur Heiðar Ólafsson premieres in Iceland a brand new piano concerto by Daníel Bjarnason in a live TV broadcast from Eldborg. The concert is called FEAST and premiered at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles on the 18th of February.

The Iceland Symphony's ever-popular Viennese concerts are truly a celebration, brightening the dark winter days with zesty and vibrant music.
Come and join us for a celebration of the new musical year on Thursday at 7.30 pm, Friday at 7.30 pm or Saturday at 4 and 7.30 pm!
New dates available
Due to the state of the epidemic, it was unavoidable to reschedule the orchestra‘s originally planned concerts in January and February. We are pleased to announce that because of fewer restrictions, Shostakotvisj and Barber on February 17th and the Vienna Concert on the 24th, 25th and 26th of February are now back on the program. Happy new musical year!

The Iceland Symphony Orchestra had to postpone or cancel its planned concerts in January and February due to the state of the pandemic.
However, we are pleased to announce that the orchestra will reunite and give two lunchtime concerts in coming weeks, Wagner and Mozart on Thursday February 3rd and Mozart and Beethoven on Thursday February 10th.
