Siggi and Sigga with the Iceland Symphony

Once Upon an August Evening showcases Sigríður Thorlacius and Sigurður Guðmundsson singing pop favourites with the ISO. This lyrical and charming programme features songs by Icelandic and non-Icelandic musicians alike, including Jón Múli Árnason, Oddgeir Kristjánsson, Ingibjörg Þorbergs, Burt Bacharach, and Antonio Carlos Jobim. These musical gems are beautifully arranged for full symphony orchestra and include new renditions made specially for this concert, such as the title song Einu sinni á ágústkvöldi (Once Upon an August Evening) by Jónas Árnason and Jón Múli Árnason and Líttu sérhvert sólarlag (Look on Every Sunset) by Bragi Valdimar Skúlason.

Sigríður and Sigurður have long been some of Iceland's most beloved singers. They each rose to prominence with their bands, Sigríður with Hjaltalín and Sigurður with Hjálmar. Since then, they have collaborated with many of the nation's best-known musicians, both separately and as a duo. They have performed with the ISO once before, as part of Harpa's opening festival in the spring of 2011. Hearing these fantastic musicians singing their favourite tunes with the Iceland Symphony in Eldborg is an opportunity not to be missed!
