Iceland Symphony live at Gothenburg Concert Hall

Live streaming of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra's concert at Göteborgs Konserthus (Gothenburg Concert Hall) on Wednesday,  April 19, 2017 will bring the renowned orchestra's work to a worldwide audience.

Conducted by the ISO's Principal Conductor, Yan Pascal Tortelier with, as soloist, the acclaimed young Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson, the concert features works by Anna Þorvaldsdóttir, Richard Strauss and Jean Sibelius.

The concert is part of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra's 2016/17 subscription series. It will be streamed live on GSOplay at 19.30 CEST (17:30 Icelandic time). Visitors to the Iceland Symphony Orchestra's website will able to access the concert.

The concert will be available to view for 30 days on both websites.

The ISO's programme opens with Aeriality by Anna Þorvaldsdóttir, one of Iceland's most renowned composers; she received the Nordic Council Music Prize in 2012 and a disc of her music was released on Deutsche Grammophon in 2014.

Víkingur Ólafsson is one of Iceland's leading musicians and also recently released his Deutsche Grammophon debut album - études by Philip Glass. Here, he plays Richard Strauss's rarely heard Burleske, and the concert concludes with the ever-popular Symphony No. 2 by Sibelius.
