The collaboration between Ragnar Kjartansson and Kjartan Sveinsson has drawn considerable attention in recent years. War is an opera telling the story of a man who dies in an unnamed war at an unspecified point in the past. It was first staged at the Volksbühne Theatre in Berlin in 2016 and is now being performed for the first time with live music. Ragnar is Iceland's most famous modern artists, and Kjartan Sveinsson has long been one of our best-known musicians, first as keyboardist with Sigur Rós and then through his independent work.
The performance of War is a collaborative project of the National Theatre and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
